5-Hydroxytryptophan, also known as oxitriptan, is a naturally occurring amino acid and chemical precursor as well as a metabolic intermediate in the biosynthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin.
It can be converted to serotonin in the body. It is often used for depression. It has less evidence for insomnia and anxiety.
5-HTP, the intermediate metabolite between the amino acid L-tryptophan and serotonin, is extracted from the seed of an African plant (Griffonia simplicifolia).
Natural color variation may occur in this product.
Take 1 capsule daily, preferably on an empty stomach at bedtime. Store in a cool, dry place after opening.
